Yesterday, the world celebrated 10/21/2015, the day Marty McFly and Doc Brown landed in the future. The classic time traveling movie had us eagerly awaiting flying Deloreans and food re-hydrators. Unfortunately, we are still waiting for some of these novelties predicted by Hollywood in 1985 to become the present of 2015.
Back to the Future II did get some predictions correct. Drones, video phones, and hands free gaming consoles are inventions that are so common now that they are almost considered to be run of the mill technology.
One of the more fascinating futuristic predictions of the movie was the widespread use of biometrics. Biometrics have long been a favorite subject of science fiction and Back to the Future II correctly predicted biometrics as a science that would be used for everything from opening front doors to checking banking accounts.
Here is an interesting article about biometric security and how it is being incorporated into the daily routines of businesses around the globe.
